One use to need a boat to come over to this side of the river, but
now you can stroll across one of the beautiful bridges spanning the
Guadalquivir river. The views around here are breathtaking and stroll
through the small winding streets in this area or maybe have another
coffee at the Mariscos Emilio. Shopping is good in this part of town
where at Juguetes barreiro, one can buy children’s toys, etc,
and there are also lots of lovely local tiles that one can acquire
to bring home to decorate ones house.
On the way back take a left at the bridge cross the Plaza de San
jorge to the Calle Castilla and maybe have one more glass of wine
(hic, hic) at the Casa Cuesta, and you can finish your tour by heading
back to the bridge and strolling along the river side through the
famous Calle Betis.
The historical symbol of Barrio de la Macarena is the great wall.
You cross by the Basilica de la Macarena which has a popular image
of the Virgin Mary. There is also a splendid building called the
Hospital de las Cinco Llagas which is now the Andalusian Parliament
building.
Medical students fill this area coming too and fro from the University
Hospital. On Calle San Luis you will find the most beautiful church
in the city which is the San Luis de los Franceses, which has large

presence in Seville. When one arrives at the old quarter through
